A message from the Wade family:

Yesterday was a whirlwind of emotions for us and we appreciate all of the kind words we have received. We need to say something very important: THANK YOU. Thank you to our staff and volunteers. Thank you to our friends and family. Thank you for knocking doors. Thank you for making phone calls. Thank you for making campaign contributions. Thank you for hosting meet and greets. Thank you for writing post cards. Thank you for your moral support. Thank you for the 500 Facebook follows and all the likes and shares. And most of all, thank you for the 10,755 votes.

Without you there would not have been a chance to run. Because of you, for the first time in 8 years, citizens in the 91st district of Virginia had a choice on the ballot. We can not emphasize how important that is. For all of us. For our democracy. You made this happen. We made this happen. We are all in this together. We have learned a lot this past year, and despite coming up short, we accomplished a lot and made a lot of friends along the way. We have met so many people who are working hard for hardly enough, and have been moved to tears by stories of personal hardship due to illness or accident. We had hoped to be able to serve in Richmond, to cast our vote in support of policies that would best serve the people of Virginia, especially those that need it most. We hoped to use our position as delegate to stand up against hate and white supremacy. Our sadness is tempered by the fact that last night, a majority of Virginians across the state stood up for those same values, and voted in a blue wave of delegates. We've erased the GOP advantage in the House of Delegates, and swept all three statewide races.

We urge everyone to savor this victory that we all have earned, and to relax and spend time with those you love. Please be assured that while this campaign may be over, our work as an advocate, activist, and asset for our community is just beginning.

Please know you are appreciated, you are important, and your voice (and vote) matters!

In Solidarity,
Michael Brandon Wade, Stacy Shorter, Berkley and Harper
